Dear Hampsteadians,
This week transitions from Valentine’s day romance into Pancacke day’s sugar rush. Beyond that, there’s new plays opening, art exhibitions on and a mixture of music options at intimate local venues.
Despite all of our longing for the sort of weather that will see us relaxing and picnicing on the heath well into the evening, it remains a good time to see what options our local, indoor venues have for us.

Bird Grove starring Owen Teale — Hampstead Theatre, Swiss Cottage (NW3) : Game of Thrones star Owen Teale leads this powerful new play by Michael Frayn. Set in the London suburbs, it’s a sharp, witty exploration of hidden pasts and shifting dynamics. Mon 16 Feb – Sat 21 Mar (Various times). LINK
Becoming Mrs Danvers — Upstairs at the Gatehouse, Highgate (N6) A gripping new drama that delves into the origins of one of literature's most iconic and chilling characters. If you enjoyed Rebecca, this atmospheric production is a must-watch. Wed 18 Feb – Sun 22 Feb (19:30). LINK
Waiting for Guffman (1996) — Tufnell Park Film Club @ The Vine (NW5) The film club returns for Christopher Guest’s legendary mockumentary about small-town amateur dramatics. As always, arrive early to secure a seat upstairs at the pub. Tue 17 Feb (20:00). LINK

Hampstead Artists, Residents, and History — Burgh House (NW3) A celebration of Hampstead’s creative legacy across three dedicated gallery spaces. This exhibition focuses on local residents from the 19th to 21st centuries, exploring the area's reputation as a global hub for artists. Wed–Sun (10:00–16:00). LINK

Lunchtime Piano Recital: Rishi Mirchandani — St Michael’s Church, Highgate (N6) A special 45-minute recital by the acclaimed pianist Rishi Mirchandani. Now based in London, Rishi brings a programme of technical brilliance and deep musicality to the beautiful setting of St Michael’s. Tue 17 Feb (13:30). LINK
Nights for Ukraine: Chamber Music Fundraiser — The Red Hedgehog (N6) A special benefit concert raising vital funds for humanitarian aid. This evening features exceptional performers in the intimate, 50-seat setting of Highgate’s "hidden gem" venue. All proceeds go to relief efforts. Sun 22 Feb (18:00). LINK
Will Bartlett / Anjali Perin Quartet — Hampstead Jazz Club (NW3) Smooth, contemporary jazz in the intimate basement of The Duke of Hamilton. Bartlett’s piano and Perin’s vocals make for one of the most sophisticated nights out in the village. Thu 19 Feb (20:00). LINK

Local Markets
The two classic markets are on as usual, located at the bottom of the heath at William Ellis school - they’re perfect for a weekend stroll through the heath and a browse. The farmers market has fresh produce and hot food, the boot sale could have anythings else!

Highgate Hill Farmers’ Market — St Joseph’s Primary School (N19) Pick up organic vegetables, fresh bread, and local meats at this community-focused Sunday market just down the hill from the village. Sun 22 Feb (10:00–14:00). LINK

The Well Walk Theatre: Sunday Magic — Hampstead (NW3) Step into one of Hampstead’s best-kept secrets for an afternoon of mind-bending illusions and sleight-of-hand.
